MOTU have announced their V3HD input/output box with even more input and output options that AJA's IoHD. Connecting through FireWire 400 or 800 because it uses the 100 Mbit/sec DVCPRO HD codec throughout. All incoming video is converted to DVCPRO HD (or DVCPRO for SD) and transported to the computer for editing.

The V3HD includes HDMI for monitoring and up to 32 channels of audio capture and output. (Final Cut Pro only supports 24 channels of audio I/O.) Simultaneous HD and SD monitoring is provided as is hardware scaling from SD to HD or HD to SD.

Input and output connections provided are:

• 1 x HD-SDI in and out (4:2:2 10-bit) on independent BNC connectors
• 1 x SD-SDI in and out (4:2:2 10-bit) on independent BNC connectors
• 1 x extra HD-SDI output connector
• 1 x extra SD-SDI output connector
• 1 x HDMI output (4:2:2 10-bit, YCbCr or RGB)
• Support for DVI output with HDMI-to-DVI adapter (sold separately)
• 1 x HD component in and out (10-bit, YPbPr or RGB) on independent BNCs
• 1 x SD component in and out (10-bit, YPbPr or RGB) on independent BNCs
• 1 x composite in and out (10-bit)
• 1 x S-video in and out (10-bit)
• 1 x 400 Mbit (1394) FireWire A
• 2 x 800 Mbit (1394b) FireWire B

The V3HD supports Apple's Final Cut Pro and Adobe's Premiere Pro in both 720 and 1080 HD formats.

Scheduled to ship in the third Quarter of 2007 no price has been announced for the V3HD yet.
